How to access and use the Internet browser of the TV.
This article provides basic information on how the Internet browser works.
- Make sure the TV is connected to the Internet before proceeding.
- Confirm that the system software (firmware) of your TV is updated to the latest version. For details, refer to the article How to perform a software update.
Choose your TV model type below.
Note: For your TV model type, refer to the article How to check if your BRAVIA TV is a Google TV™, Android TV™, or other TV.
Google TV and Android TV models
Note: The official name of the browser is Vewd Internet Browser (formerly Opera).
Accessing the Internet Browser
- On your TV remote control, press the HOME button.
- For Android™ 8.0 or later, Select Apps.
- Select Internet Browser.
- Move the cursor towards the upper right-hand corner of the screen, and select the Vewd icon.
- On the menu list, scroll down and select Exit.
- Under the Exit screen, select OK.
- Press the up arrow button repeatedly until the cursor reaches the upper part of the screen where the address bar is.
- Press the Enter
button.
- On the soft keyboard, key in your desired search term or web address.
- Select GO or the → (right arrow) button.
- On the remote control, use the up, down, left, and right arrow buttons to move the cursor on the TV screen to select an item.
- Press the Enter
button to select the desired item.
Note: For TVs released in 2015, to scroll the TV screen using the touchpad remote control, swipe up or down along the right side of the touchpad.
- To reload webpages, move the cursor to the top part of the screen and select
.
- To go to the next web page, move the cursor to the top part of the screen and select
.
- To go back to the previous web page, move the cursor to the top part of the screen and select
.
Note: If your remote control has color buttons, you can go to the next web page by pressing the BLUE button or back to the previous web page by pressing the YELLOW button.
- Load the page that you want to register to your Bookmarks.
- Method 1:
- Using the remote control, move the cursor to the top part of the screen, and select Bookmarks.
- Select Add to Bookmark.
- Using the remote control, move the cursor to the top part of the screen, and select Bookmarks.
- Method 2:
- Using the remote control, move the cursor to the upper part of the screen, and select the Vewd icon.
- On the menu list, select Add to Bookmark.
- Using the remote control, move the cursor to the upper part of the screen, and select the Vewd icon.
- Method 1:
- Select OK when the Add Page to Bookmarks screen is displayed.
- Using the Vewd icon
- On the remote control, move the cursor to the upper part of the screen to select the Vewd icon.
- On the menu list, select Settings.
- Select Zoom.
- On the remote control, move the cursor to the upper part of the screen to select the Vewd icon.
- Using the remote control
- Press the PROG+ or CH+ button on your TV remote control.
- Choose your preferred option 100, 150, 200 or 300%.
- To decrease the size, please use the PROG- or CH- button on your remote control.
- The remote control varies depending on your TV model. The following is an example.
- On the remote control, move the cursor to the upper part of the screen to select the Vewd icon.
- On the menu list, select Settings.
- Select Clear history.
Turn On the Accessibility Mode
- On the remote control, move the cursor to the upper part of the screen to select the Vewd icon.
- On the menu list, select Settings.
- Select Accessibility Mode Off.
Note: This will change to Accessibility Mode On once you selected the option.
- On the remote control, move the cursor to the upper part of the screen to select the Vewd icon.
- On the menu list, select Settings.
- Select Always Show Menu Bar Off.
Note: This will change to Always Show Menu Bar On once you selected the option.
Set a website as the home page of the Internet Browser (Speed Dial)
The Internet Browser does not have a Home page setting. However, by using the Speed Dial function, you can easily open your favorite pages.
What is Speed Dial?
- Considered to be the most frequently used pages by the user
- Allows promotion of certain web pages (due to better location and easy access) - as a preload
- Also allows us to change them
- Speed Dial entries are visible in the new tab section
The setting process is as follows.
- Access the desired page in the Internet Browser.
- Align the cursor with the menu at the top of the screen.
- Select the Vewd icon.
- Select Add to Speed Dial.
Other TV models
IMPORTANT: This solution only applies to Sony TVs with an Internet browser. Not all Sony Internet video devices have an Internet browser. Check the specifications of your device to determine if it has an Internet browser.
Accessing the Internet browser
- Press the HOME or MENU button.
- Select Apps or Applications.
Note: If Internet Browser is not displayed, select All Apps or All Applications, then select Internet Browser. If the icon for the Internet Browser is not displayed on the All Apps or All Applications screen, see the article App icons such as YouTube are not being displayed on the apps screen. - Select Internet Browser.
- Press the
button.
Once you are finished using the browser, press the MENU or HOME button to exit the browser.
Follow the instructions below to view a desired website.
- When the address bar is displayed at the top of the browser screen
- Select the Address bar using the arrow buttons on the remote, then press the
button.
- In the Option menu, select Enter URL.
Note: A text box with a keyboard appears on the TV screen. - Type the URL using the remote control as shown on the TV screen,
- When finished entering the URL address, select Enter.
- Select the Address bar using the arrow buttons on the remote, then press the

- On the supplied remote control, press the OPTION button.
- In the Option menu, select Enter URL.
Note: A text box with a keyboard appears on the TV screen. - Type the URL using the remote control as shown on the TV screen,
- When finished entering the URL address, select Enter.
Clicking or selecting an item on the Web
- Use the arrow buttons on the remote control to move the cursor on the TV screen and select an item.
- When the desired item is selected, press the
button.
Follow the instructions below to add a bookmark.
- When
(Show bookmarks) is displayed at the top of the browser screen
- Select
(Show bookmarks) using the arrow buttons on the remote, then press the
button.
- Select Add Bookmark, then press the
button.
- Select
- When
(Show bookmarks) is not displayed at the top of the browser screen
- On the supplied remote control, press the OPTION button.
- In the OPTION menu, scroll down and select Bookmark or Add Bookmark.
Note: Once a Bookmark is added, pressing the option button again will display Remove Bookmark or Delete Bookmark instead of Add Bookmark. - Bookmarks are kept and retrieved from Bookmark in the OPTION menu.
Notes:
- When you launch the Internet browser for the first time, the Sony website is displayed. The next time you launch it, the most-recently viewed website is automatically displayed.
- You can add up to 30 bookmarks.
Navigate the page or advance between pages while browsing
- Using the supplied remote control, press the Green button to go back to the previous page or press the Yellow button to go to the next page.
- Press the Red button to scroll down the page down or the Blue button to page up.
Follow the instructions below to refresh the web page
- When the Reload Current Page is displayed at the top of the browser screen
Select the Reload Current Page using the arrow button on the remote, then press thebutton.
- When the Reload Current Page is not displayed at the top of the browser screen
- Press the Options button.
- Select Refresh.
- Press the
button.
- On the supplied remote control, press the OPTION button.
- In the Option menu, select Browser Settings.
- Select Character size.
- Press the up arrow or down arrow to change the character size.
- On the supplied remote control, press the OPTION button.
- In the Option menu, select Zoom.
Note: If Zoom is not displayed in the Option menu, select Browser Settings or Show, then select Zoom. - Select Zoom In or Zoom Out.
