Precautions when connecting USB Type-C® headphones to a Walkman player (NW-A100 / NW-A300 / NW-ZX500 / NW-ZX700 Series, NW-WM1AM2, NW-WM1ZM2)
The USB Type-C port on the Walkman is intended for transferring music to the internal memory and for connecting to external devices, such as amplifiers.
Using the Walkman with headphones that have a USB Type-C connector is not recommended. Depending on the headphones, the following limitations may occur:
- You may not be able to adjust the volume using the volume controls on the Walkman.
- The volume may always be set to maximum when the headphones are connected to the Walkman, and you may not be able to adjust it.
If the sound is unexpectedly loud, stop playback immediately, disconnect the headphones, and discontinue use to avoid exposure to high volume. - Sound quality may differ from the sound output through the Walkman’s headphone jack and depends on the specifications and characteristics of the connected headphones.
- If you use headphones with a USB Type-C connector and a remote control, the remote control functions may not be available.
- When audio is output through headphones with a USB Type-C connector, some sound quality settings may be disabled, such as:
- Equalizer
- DSEE Ultimate
- DC Phase Linearizer
- Dynamic Normalizer
- Vinyl Processor
- DSD Remastering
- If you play music in the W. Music app and then switch to a streaming service app, you will need to unplug and reconnect the USB Type-C connector before playing music again.
