Some users of the Digital Still Camera Cyber-shot DSC-P1 have reported symptoms that charging is incomplete when the indicator shows that the battery is fully charged and inconsistent battery operations consisting of shorter camera operation.

Because the symptoms could occur depending on the environment where the Digital Still Camera is being used and stored, we were repairing the affected model on an individual basis, while we investigated the cause of the symptoms. As a result, we found that the symptoms could result from a combination of various factors unique to the Digital Still Camera in addition to the environmental factors indicated above. Implementation of the following measures could prevent the symptoms from occurring:

1. Modification of the Digital Still Camera power supply plug
2. Modification of the Digital Still Camera's AC charger power supply plug
3. Use of a battery pack [NP-FS11] equivalent to unused one.
4. Software upgrade of the Digital Still Camera

Based on our findings, we will provide a free diagnosis service, and if necessary, a free repair service to improve the consistency of battery operations for the affected model. We ask customers who wish to take advantage of this free service to contact our authorised service centres indicated below for further details. This free service will require a complete set of the Digital Still Camera, AC charger and battery to be kept at the service centre for diagnosis and service.
