This page provides instructions on how to update the firmware for XAV-AX100 to version MCU: 1.02.06, SOC: 1.02.06.

Benefits of Update:

  • Support XA-NV400 (Car Navigation Module).
  • Improve detection of USB devices.

Applicable firmware

Version: MCU: 1.01.02, SOC: 1.01.02 or lower

How to check Firmware Version

Note: If the version is displayed as MCU: 1.02.06, SOC: 1.02.06, you do not need to update the firmware.

  1. Turn the main unit ON.
  2. Select Settings from Home screen.
  3. Select General Settings.
  4. Select Firmware Version.
  5. Current Firmware version is displayed.

Update Note: Following setting values are reverted back to default after the update. Please note down your current settings before doing the update.

Details

How to update the firmware:

  1. Preparation:
    The following USB Memory device is required for the Firmware Update:
    • Certified High Speed USB Drive
    • System format is FAT32 or FAT16
      * If you are unclear of the memory of your usb drive, we recommend using a USB drive with over 2GB memory.

    How to store the updater file into an USB memory
    • Connect the USB memory to your PC and format the USB memory with the format type, FAT16 or FAT32.
    • Connect your PC to the internet.
    • Download the compress zip file into your PC.
    • Extract the update file to create the "update" folder which include CUST_PACK.BIN and st16mcu.bin
    • Copy the “update” folder under the root of the USB memory which is connected to your PC.
    • Disconnect the USB memory from your PC.

  2. Updating the firmware of the main unit with the USB Memory:
    Note:
    • Please make sure to follow all steps as below.
    • Update procedure (in your car): It takes approx. 10 minute to update.
    • Park your car on the safe place and start the engine to avoid the voltage drop of the power line.
  3. Connect the USB memory to the main unit.

  4. Press volume knob and select Source OFF (or Press OFF button of the remote commander) to change source off state.

  5. Select Settings from Home screen.
    • Please swipe bottom of Home screen right to left if you cannot find Settings icon.
  6. Select General Settings.

  7. Select Firmware Version.

  8. Select Update.
    • Please confirm the USB memory if you cannot push the Update button. The USB memory may not have the update file on correct place.
    • Please confirm the USB memory if the unit shows This data is not compatible message. The USB memory may not have correct update file.
    • Please download a latest update file if the version is not displayed as MCU: 1.01.02, SOC: 1.01.02. You may use incorrect update file.
  9. Select Update again.
    The unit starts update. The update should finish in approximately 10 minutes and when the update is normally finished. The unit restarts multiple times automatically during the updating. The unit shows For your safety screen if the update is finished.
    • Please do not turn off the unit during the update.
    • Please do not disconnect the USB memory during the update.
  10. Confirm that the firmware version is updated by referring to How to confirm the firmware version on the main unit.
    If the firmware update wasn't completed, please use another USB memory device, press the Reset button and try updating the firmware again.
When MCU: 1.02.06, SOC: 1.02.06 is displayed for the "version" number, updating of the firmware is completed
