Unable to connect the wireless LAN-ready TV to communicate with the Internet.

IMPORTANT:

  • A Sony wireless LAN-ready TV requires the use of the Wireless LAN Adapter model: UWA-BR100.
  • Before proceeding, verify that your television is connected to a high-speed wireless connection and is properly configured to access your network.
  • Not all TVs are able to connect to a 5Ghz wireless connection. If a 5Ghz wireless connection is being used, check the TV specifications. 
  1. Make sure that the modem/router is on.
  2. Verify that the modem and router are connected to the Internet by using a computer and viewing different web sites.

    NOTE: If the computer or other Internet devices cannot connect to the network, the issue might be with the Internet service. Contact Internet Service Provider for further assistance.

  3. Turn the TV on and check the Network Status:
    1. Using the supplied remote, press the HOME button.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select Network Setup.
    4. Select View Network Status.
    5. Press ENTER to confirm network status.
    6. Make sure the following settings appear:
      • Wireless Device should be OK meaning the TV is connected to the Wireless LAN Adapter UWA-BR100.

        NOTE: The use of other USB adapters is not supported.

      • Local Access should be OK meaning that the TV sees the Bravia Internet Video (BIV) server.

Use the following list to resolve errors that appear after checking your Network connection:

  • If Wireless Device is Not accessible:
    1. Make sure the Network SSID of your wireless router is indicated.

      NOTES:

      • The signal strength of the connection to your wireless router should be present. If it appears as a dash (-), you are not connected to the router.
      • If the signal strength appears low or weak, try the following:
        1. Move the router or access point closer to the TV. while the router should be in range of the TV, it should not be closer than one meter (about 3 feet) from the TV.
        2. Turn off or disable any other device on the network. This includes gaming devices, computers, and Internet phones.
    2. Make sure the Wireless LAN adapter UWA-BR100 is connected to the USB port of the TV.
    3. Make sure the USB port of the TV is working by connecting another USB storage device.

      NOTE: If it is determined that USB port of TV is not working, service may be required.

    4. If both Local and Internet access failed:
      1. For a secured wireless network, make sure the security key entered is correct. The Security key or passphrase is case sensitive. Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for further assistance.
      2. Make sure an IP address is shown. If the IP address flashes and /or starts with 169, the TV has obtained an incorrect IP address. Manually set an IP address to the TV.
    5. Make sure the TV has the latest system software update installed.
    6. Make sure the Internet speed meets the minimum recommended specification of 2.5Mb for standard definition (SD) content and 10Mb high definition (HD) content.

      NOTE: For DSL customers, the router setup might require a user name and password to be entered and the router will be set to PPoE. Bravia® televisions support broadband Internet connections only; they are not compatible with dial-up.

    7. Reset the network equipment, such as the cable modem and/or router, by turning them off for 1 minute.
    8. If the problem exists, reset the TV to factory settings .
